FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I have already completed a Will/Trust, Power of Attorney, and medical directives. What more does Grace in Exiting (GIE) do?

Having those legal documents is the critical first step in estate planning and is essential for your family and executor. GIE Organizational Consultants will assist you in creating a detailed Transition Plan by identifying critical information that may not be covered in these documents. Examples include a key contacts list, social media accounts, utility providers, subscriptions, memberships, and pet care instructions. GIE Consultants review this and more as part of our exclusive interview and checklist system to ensure your family has what they need during a stressful time.

  • What is covered in GIE’s Creative Consulting services?

The GIE Creative Team can help you express the sentimental aspects of your life and legacy through video messages, photo/video montages, and eulogy and obituary writing. GIE helps you pre-plan to spare your family the stress of creating a meaningful tribute while grieving.

  • How do I get started with GIE Services?

GIE offers a free 30-minute consultation via video conference or phone call. During the initial consultation, we will determine the Organizational and Creative Consulting Services that are relevant to you. Once engaged, we can work in person, via video conference, or phone call. GIE will travel to clients outside of the 10-mile radius who are willing to cover our travel and expenses.

  • How long does it take to complete my Transition Plan?

It depends on the number of services you select, the intricacies of your life and estate, as well as your schedule and availability. A typical Organizational Consulting Service engagement can be completed in as few as 2-3 conversations. Creative Consulting Services' timeframes will vary due to the custom nature of the work and the complexity involved.

  • I’m concerned about providing sensitive data like social security numbers, bank account numbers, and passwords.

The security of your sensitive information is vital. For your protection, GIE does not request, store, or document personal data. GIE will provide you with the completed Transition Plan document, leaving spaces for you to fill in sensitive data. GIE will not have access to your final document.

  • Is GIE a funeral planner?

Organizational and Creative Consulting is our core business. However, GIE can assist with funeral planning and management for an additional fee to ensure a seamless event, allowing your loved ones to focus on grieving and caring for each other.

  • Does GIE provide legal or financial services?

GIE is not a fiduciary and does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice. Please work directly with your trusted professional advisors. GIE can provide referrals if needed.

  • We’ve heard about end-of-life doulas. What is this, and do you offer this service?

An end-of-life doula is a non-medical professional who provides emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to people who are dying and their loved ones. Grace In Exiting focuses on pre-planning your final organizational and creative wishes but can provide doula referrals.

  • How much does GIE charge to complete my Transition Plan?

We offer a free 30-minute consult during which we will determine the scope of your Transition Plan together. Next, GIE will provide you with an estimate based on your selected services. The base fee to engage GIE is $2,500, which will be applied to the scope of work.

  • How do I keep my Transition Plan updated?

GIE offers an annual maintenance program. A GIE consultant will contact you once a year to discuss and document changes that impact your plan.

  • Why GIE?

Our clients' testimonials tell us that GIE’s Organizational and Creative Consulting services appeal to their unique needs. Some are motivated to work with GIE for the peace of mind that their loved ones have critical information at hand; others are drawn to GIE for our ability to inventory family heirlooms for future generations to appreciate, while many want to make sure their life story is told their way. What they all have in common is the belief that creating a GIE Transition Plan is their gift for family and friends that leaves a lasting memory that is positive and loving -- not chaotic.
